EKSKURSAS: Introduction to Kaunas Modernism

Period of independent Lithuania (1918-1940) formed to a big extent how urban and architectural heritage of New Town in Kaunas looks like today. Thus 2015 March Kaunas has been awarded the European Heritage label. Why Kaunas modernism is growing admiration for the experts?

„Ekskursas“ invites you to discover the most organic combination of the two ideological engines of the interwar architecture – modernity and nationality. Moreover we will touch on history, culture, social life and art of Kaunas. Questions are more than welcome during the excursion. The walk is expected to last about 1-1,5 hours and we will enter inside some of the most prominent buildings from interwar period.
